I'm so nervous!

I can't really explain it but I'm so nervous to publish this post! As you know, I've recently ventured into the world of quilting. At first, it wasn't my "thing." I didn't take to it with passion which usually, for me at least, means that I'm never going to be good at it. However, after finishing my first quilt, I still had two tops that needed to be quilted. I couldn't give up or else those two tops would sit there forever. Those two quilt tops STILL need to be quilted but I've managed to make three more. I finished two of them and...I LOVE QUILTING!!!!! I have to say, I'm still not really good at it but I could definitely fool the untrained eye. It is so great to be able to take small little pieces of fabric and turn them into something useful and beautiful.

My most recent quilting adventure has been for a purpose. My friends, Jennie and Marcia from Kerus Global Education, are having a benefit and I'm donating a quilt. But I need your help! I made the two quilts and I need to know which one to donate. I've put a poll over to the right and I want you to take a look a the descriptions and pictures below and let me know which one is your favorite.

Here are the contestants:

Contestant #1:

Verna

Verna, by Kate Spain, is one of my very favorite lines of fabric. So versatile! Verna measures 48 inches x 53 inches. I used parts of this "recipe", (they call their patterns "recipes") leaving out the ruffle by accident - oops! The sashing and backing are the same - a tan background with small, white/off-white flowers and vines. The quilting on Verna is not the greatest. I quilted her over the course of two days and my spacing is not even throughout. Like I said, someone who isn't a quilter wouldn't really notice, but a quilter definitely would.

Oops! Didn't get a good back picture. You can see it in the next picture, though.

Contestant #2

Hushabye

Isn't she gorgeous! Hushbye, by Tula Pink, is exquisite! The colors, the design...beautiful! The picture above only shows the "Grass" colorway but I used some from the others also. My first impression of this fabric was that it would be too "little girly". Little did I know how much it would change by adding some sashing and quilting it. Hushabye measures 48.5 inches x 60 inches. I didn't follow a pattern for this one - just made it up, but it isn't anything special. The blocks are 8 inch squares with 2.5 inch sashing and a 5.5 inch border (all approximate). The sashing and backing are Kona unbleached cotton muslin.

So, what do you think? If you HAD to buy a quilt and these were your ONLY two choices, which would it be? Cast your vote over on the right!

I love these! The poll says it's not available at this time, so I'm check back.
I've been toying with the idea of quilting. I'm so intimidated!! I also have 981918 other projects I should finish first :)
Great work!

April, they are both beautiful! I love them both and it is hard to make a decision on which to choose. I think I gravitate more toward Hushabye (the 2nd), but both are wonderful and will be adored by anyone! Great work and how talented you are, my friend! Way to go!

Great job on both quilts, April! I've only done one quilt, but really enjoyed the quilting process. If I could get a hang of cutting with a rotory cutter I'd do a lot more quilting.
By the way, your explaination of enjoying sewing small pieces of fabric together to creat something beautiful is exactly how I feel about sewing.

oh my gosh they are SO beautiful! Makes me think of doing something with all my scraps. I am definitely drawn more towards the second one.
